      <description>Those of us interested in linguistics might want to check out Language Log, an interesting and enlightening group blog. 

I was especially interested in one linguist's view of  The Elements of Style being &quot;a horrid little compendium of unmotivated prejudices (don't use ongoing), arbitrary stipulations (don't begin a sentence with however), and fatuous advice (&quot;Be clear&quot;)&quot;. 

Seeing that we (sometimes blindly) regard the book as one of our bibles, it is nice to hear an opposite point of view.
